King George Corridor

Along the South Point Walk, the boutiques and unique shops at High Street are popular with local residents. In addition, Semiahmoo Mall located in the south of the community offers banks, shops and restaurants.

RECREATION

Crescent Park in Elgin Chantrell is over 128 acres of mature second growth forest with walking trails, streams and meadows. The neighbourhood crown jewel is Elgin Heritage Park on the Nicomekl River, home to eagles and hawks, a 3.25 km Nature Trail Walk and the beautifully restored Historic Stewart Farmhouse. Locals can tee it high and watch it fly at Riverside Golf Centre and Nico Wynd Golf Club.

South Surrey Athletic Park at 148th Street and 20th Avenue is “sports central”. There you’ll find top notch fields for soccer, rugby, football and grass hockey. Softball City is located in the park with a skate park, bike paths, water park and running track to add to the mix. At the heart is Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest, one of the first dedicated urban forest parks in Canada. Today it’s home to birds, coyotes and black-tailed deer. The Nature Trail Walk through the forest is 4 km long, perfect for bird-watchers, dog walking and those drawn to the call of nature.

SCHOOLS

As part of the Surrey School Board, the community offers Sunnyside, Semiahmoo Trail Elementary, Chantrell Creek Elementary, Bayridge, H.T. Thrift and Ray Shepherd Elementary. Earl Marriot Secondary on the White Rock border offers a full French Immersion Program. 

Semiahmoo Secondary with grades 8 to 12 is highly regarded with its International Baccalaureate Program. White Rock Christian Academy, Southridge Private School and Star of the Sea Catholic School also contribute to high levels of education. And finally, the reputable, Elgin Park Secondary School. Elgin Park Secondary offers the finest academic programs and attracts both international and local students. 

TRANSPORTATION

The Elgin Chantrell area has peak bus provided by TransLink with service to White Rock and Willowbrook. The 351 Crescent Beach/Bridgeport Station bus is available along King George Boulevard. By car, quick access to Highway 99 means the US Border is just minutes away and offers a quick route to downtown Vancouver.
